Plant Physiology - Arabidopsis
Optimizing photosynthesis to increase plant biomass
Don Ort Lab
(Oct 2019 -March 2020)
Most of the research investigates the role of axillary proteins which support rubisco’s function to transport CO2. The lab uses several different strains of Arabidopsis, each having a mutation which alters a process in the photosynthetic pathway.
The overarching goal is to have plants produce more biomass for biofuel production.
Leaf number, fresh weight, and dry weight are used to approximate the amount of biomass produced.
After all the data is collected, averages from each metric will be analyzed to establish a relationship between biomass produced and the specific strain.
The specific statistical test that I used is a One-way ANOVA.
